Questions for the Founder

1. Introduce yourself a little (who you are, what you do in life, your background, etc.)

My name is Melissa. I did a bachelor's degree in Commerce & Development in Brussels and a master's degree in Population & Development Sciences at the University of Liège. In addition to ART23, I am a commercial assistant in a structure that distributes eco-friendly toys for children.

2. If you had to describe yourself using one word, which one would it be?

Sensitive.

3. What do you hate the most?

Injustice (in all its forms).

4. Rather introverted - or extroverted?

Rather introverted

5. Rather utopian, dreamy or realistic?

Dreamy.

6. What superpower would you like to have?

Manipulating time. It would be great to be able to visit certain periods, relive moments of love. Seriously, it would also give us enough time in a day to make the to do list we've set ourselves.

7. What’s your favorite city?

Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie in Vendée (France). It is a small town located along the Atlantic coast which has not been too badly affected by mass tourism, very lively also thanks to its fishing port. Its alleyways are filled with small, very welcoming and warm shopkeepers. There are a lot of restaurants including creperies. I'm a fan of pancakes... They're delicious, I could eat them just for the sake of eating. The 14th of July fireworks on the beach is an incredible moment. To be honest, this little town is home to some unforgettable family memories.

8. What thrills you?

From a professional point of view, I need to feel useful, to make a contribution. To propose something, a product for example, that makes sense. It is not perfect but there is a will to do better, to improve, it is this idea that drives me and transports me.

9. Where would you like to see ART 23 in 5 years?

In 5 years’ time, I would like ART23 to still exist (obviously) and that we could develop it as we wished when we created it and especially that ART23 could generate jobs. That would be great. Our goal is not to become a fashion giant, but a clothing brand that has settled down and that customers are proud to wear.
